Hi Jeff -
My router has been set up for years with no security enabled. I went thru the steps in your video, but when I click on “save settings” it doesn’t acknowledge that I’m trying to save.
The model number in the top left of the website says WBR-1310, but I have a DI-624 – maybe this is the problem?
Thanks so much in advance for your help!!
@pkflame1
Use the reset button on the back of the router. You’ll need a pen or a paper clip to actually push the button. Hold it in for about 5 sceonds while the router is on. You’ll see it turn off/on. All the defaults will be restored.
@Clubpenguinhelp1
I’ve seen this before on Vista machines. Open the aaplication that handles your wireless networks. Click the Advanced properties of the network that wants the certificate. Uncheck the Enable IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network box.
@MzRica09
You don’t need the CD. Just open your web browser to the router’s IP address. To find the router’s IP address. open a command prompt (Start–>Run–> type command in the run box and click OK) Type ipconfig and hit enter. The gateway IP is the router.
Hey wfcastle33 when i try to connect my labtop to the router it says on the bottom “Windows was unable to find a certificate to log you on the network” What should i do? Please reply :D
I got onto the website you asked me to, the D-Link site, I logged in user, works, but I forgot my administrator user and pass, resetting router doesnt seem to reset the user and pass, what shall I do?
So the so-called “password” was to match the “Pre-Shared Key”?? I had NO idea that we were to make that jump. I waded through numerous wi-fi Q&A pages with no luck. Your instruction finally hit the nail right on the head! Thank you!
@pkflame1
You’ll be ok. Just use a network cable to connect your machine to one of the router’s LAN ports. Set your computer’s IP address to 192.168.0.2 (255.255.255.0 subnet mask, no gateway). Open a web browser to 192.168.0.1. Login to the router.
hi i just bought one ot these routers 20 mins ago andcouldnt connect it ..well not the right way .. right now its conected to my modem and my computer and everyone who wants can connect to th wifi signal please mesg me back on this
@gd137
The modem on default settings should be ok. Its setup already to contact the ISP and make a connection. I don’t see any settings on the dcm-202 that would kill access. If no one can access the wifi then its a wifi router problem since that device sits between them and the internet. Concentrate on connecting to the wifi first, then attack the internet access problem.
Hi Jeff – Great video to have online. Better than anything I’ve seen. Any recommendations on how to RE-configure once you’ve gone through the process already? I set the security settings on my DCM-202 modem when I first set it up – but no one else can access the wifi. When I pull up the webpage – there are no original settings. I’m afraid to reconfigure and lose everything – or worse, lose access altogether. Any guidance?
Does a modem affect the speed of your wireless Internet because I have had my modem for like 5 years and my Internet always restarts? Please respond

Use the reset button on the back of the router. That sets everything back to default. Username is Admin, no password.

I tried to rune the setup wizard, it asked for my CD, what if I dont have the CD? am i screwed? -.-
@tatc
Not sure what you’re asking here. The S/N of the router has nothing to do with connecting to the network.
on the back of the router/modem which code do i put in to access wifi? S/N???

You’re welcome.
@fuckyeahEddie

@wilfredotour2
The default username is admin with a blank password
