D-Link Wireless Router: G Vs N

Albert explains the difference between wireless G and N by showcasing the amount of time transferred and even goes as far as the outskirts of town to test just how far these routers can go. Special guest appearance by Sam and Erik.

@1Lude2NV Yer thats real smart, a straight line test within buildings which reflect and obstruct the true range of the signal. Good thinking there ya goose.

D-Link is trash

the distance test is pointless because it was only testing conectivity with router… they should start transferring eg. 1GB file and then go as far they can

N is surpose to be upto 5 times faster than g. Some companies say even 15x. If

@mistercent
N & G are different models of D Link routers. I presume as I have a G purchased about 3 years ago that their new model is N…. and more improved.:)

wats N and G… i dont get it ????som 1 tell me pls

what if it is 100mps

xbox 360 manufactures a N wireless receiver now. just sayin

@kuzulio one mega bit is 1milion bits not one mega byte

Just a moment! Maybe I don’t understand something! This router suppose to provide us with 300Mbps bandwidth. In your test you show 11.2MB file tratsfer in 10:19sec. That means approximately 1MBps that means 8 Mbps. So where are 292Mbps?

I would use a psp, if you test the connection, when its done it’s continuiously updating the signal percentage until it loses it

use psp go if you want N

N = Better range, faster speed, more secure

I have that black router/modem (D link 2640b) it’s a pretty cool router/dmodem.

well i have a G router and i don’t know if it would be a waste of money to get an N card. would i get increased range? or would it be the same range as i get with the G card.

…i see eric

i have this router i oused it the first 15m then the connection was gone!

I know you guys may be small time but you really didn’t prove much with these “tests”. You throw B and G around like they’re the same (they’re not) and your distance test is completely subjective and provides no real data (just a camera shot). And D-Link is “king of routers”? That’s a lofty title for a company known for making sub-par networking products. See TomsHardware for how a true technical review is done.

no. there are currently no consoles that support wireless N. they will still work with the N routers, but there will be no difference in speed.
there may be a minor increase in the latency, but it is such a little difference that you would never notice

Man, i got mah new D Link Dir-615 N Router today (refurbrished) for about 30$ from ebay. I’ll tell you if its good for 360 once i set it up today.

plzz can sum1 tell me if the N router is good for consoles >>>plzz

i got verizon fios and they threw in a crappy actiontec wireless G router.

I’m receiving this free of charge, our new ISP is throwing this router in :)

ya but it’s still one of the best reviews on youtube

Well the open road test didnt tell me shit cuz i dont live on a long street outside where there are no walls and stories…would of been soo much better if they tested in an actual house where there are obstructions because who the hell lives on a damn street and has a WIFI router?!

Not only do I have videos of my touch, but I also have videos of me outside.
