CA Certifies Highwall Sentinel Appliance As Interoperable With Unicenter NSM Wireless Network Management Option
Sarasota, FL (PRWEB) April 5, 2004
Highwall Technologies today announced that Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) has certified the Highwall Sentinel appliance as interoperable with CA’s Unicenter NSM Wireless Network Management Option.
The integrated solution enables IT organizations to centrally manage and enforce “no unauthorized wireless” policies and protect wired networks from intrusions that can occur through rogue access points, peer-to-peer networks and wireless clients. The Highwall Sentinel has received the ca smart seal of excellence, which is awarded to products that integrate seamlessly with CA solutions, enabling customers to take advantage of best-in-class technologies while minimizing cost, time-to-benefit and risk.
“As wireless LANs become more prevalent in the enterprise, an integrated approach to securing and managing the wireless enterprise is critical to the effective mitigation of risks associated with this new environment,” said Sumit Deshpande, vice president in the Office of the CTO at CA. “The ca smart certified Highwall Sentinel complements Unicenter NSM’s ability to address this important requirement.”
Unicenter NSM Wireless Network Management Option manages multi-vendor WLAN environments with comprehensive rogue access point detection, real-time performance monitoring, troubleshooting tools, and historical trending functions from a central console or handheld device. As part of the Unicenter family of infrastructure management products, it also ensures that WLANs can be managed consistently with the wired network.
The Highwall Sentinel is a high-range, network security appliance that monitors the airwaves for all unauthorized WiFi activity. Instead of deploying hundreds of low range sensors, Highwall offers the ability to cover entire buildings with a single appliance.
“The only way to enforce a wireless policy and assure there are no unauthorized wireless access points or clients is by watching the air as well as the wire,” said Rich Swier, Chief Executive Officer of Highwall Technologies. “Together with CA, we are providing users of Unicenter NSM Wireless Network Management Option the ability to detect, locate and shutdown any wireless vulnerability and truly secure the wired network.”
